The world lost a legend today - Don LaFontaine, The Voice of the modern movie trailer, has passed away at age 68. Don passed at Cedars-Sinai medical center from complications of an ongoing illness. LaFontaine's catch phrase "In a world where...." was heard in over 5,000 trailers spanning a 33-year career.
Don continued to work up until his death from a home studio where he did seven to ten voiceover recording sessions a day, receiving scripts by fax. LaFontaine is survived by his wife, singer/actress Nita Whitaker and three daughters.
