Pete Wentz has explained the reasoning behind his son’s unique name. Wentz and his wife Ashlee Simpson welcomed their first child, Bronx Mowgli, last Thursday in Los Angeles. Wentz remained vague about why they chose Bronx for the baby’s first name but did confirm that they got Mowgli from Disney’s ‘The Jungle Book.’
“We came up with the idea Bronx. We’ve been throwing [ideas] back and forth for a while. It’s kind of cool to just leave the narrative what it is. People are stoked or pissed or whatever. And you’re like, you know what: I don’t think anyone really has the real story,” he tells Ryan Seacrest on the America Idol hosts radio show Tuesday.
As for choosing Mowgli, Wentz said that he and Simpson bonded over the Disney book. “The Jungle Book was something that me and Ashlee bonded over. It’s a cool name,” he said.
The 29-year-old added that the birth of Bronx was stressful for him, but Simpson handled it well. “Right before she went into labor, I was like, ‘Oh, my God, I think I’m having a heart attack.’ My heart started beating real fast. You see your wife in all this pain. And I don’t know what’s happening right now. She took care of me and made sure I was okay and then went into labor. That’s why she’s a saint,” Wentz revealed.
