Malawian officials say they are set to investigation Madonna’s application to adopt a 14-month-old baby girl.
The pop star is expected to appear in a Malawian court to attend adoption proceedings. She has requested to adopt a baby girl named Mercy James from the same orphanage she adopted 3-year-old son David Banda from in May 2008.
David’s adoption sparked controversy among Malawian people as some accused the government of ignoring adoption laws designed to keep Malawian children inside Malawi. Madonna recently said she would only adopt from Malawi again if the people supported her.
