A residency requirement in Malawi has prevented Madonna from adopting a second child. The residency requirement for prospective parents is 18 to 24 months in Malawi. Madonna has homes in New York and London.
Madonna, who flew to Malawi on Sunday, was not in court to hear the ruling over Chifundo (Mercy) James, three. It is not clear if she will appeal against it.
