Eddie Fisher Dies At 82

Eddie Fisher, 82, passed away Wednesday night at his home in Berkeley, California of complications from hip surgery.

Fisher was a singer and father to Star Wars actress Carrie Fisher.

"Late last evening the world lost a true America icon," Fisher's family said in a statement. "One of the greatest voices of the century passed away. He was an extraordinary talent and a true mensch."

He was one of the world's most famous and successful performers in the 1950s ("Anytime" was his first big hit).

In 1955, he married his first wife, actress Debbie Reynolds. Four years later, he divorced her to wed his best friend's widow, Elizabeth Taylor.
